The book concludes that norms and executive strategies play an especially significant role in shaping ratification outcomes, and it has implications for theories of international negotiation and foreign policy analysis as well as the practice of diplomacy.

About the Author
Jeffrey Lantis is an Associate Professor of Political Science at The College of Wooster, where he has taught since 1994. His research focuses on international relations, with a specialization in foreign policy analysis and international security. He received a J. William Fulbright Senior Scholarship for research in Australia in 2007, where he served as Visiting Scholar in the Department of International Relations at the Research School of Pacific and Asian Studies at The Australian National University in Canberra and the School of Social Sciences and International Studies at the University of New South Wales in Sydney.
